Why Sickle Cell?
Our position: We don’t think this is as cost-effective as some of the best causes globally, but we think it compares much better to other local NGOs in Cameroon and to other projects in crowdfunding sites, so we are comfortable raising more funds away from less cost-effective causes and towards this one.

The Cameroonian charitable sector does not work very well
There is no correlation between experience and effect or grant size and effect, it is as if organizations don't get more effective with experience and professionalism. If anything the correlation is negative. We think this is because organizations get more effective at capturing donor funding not at providing a better service.
Food Security Assessment in Lebialem
In September 2023, we tested the hypothesis that Lebialem was the Division with the most vulnerable inhabitants and possibly with the most food insecure, giving the combination of factors including a political blockade against the movement of food commodities.
This rapid assessment focused on consumption scores and found more than 50% of the persons interviewed to fall under the category of “poor”. This type of score is comparable to that of Afghanistan in 2022 (one of the worst food security crises in the world), and far away from the scores found in other locations of the South-West and North-West.
