The project concept was about creating and training community child protection committees and training of local stakeholders (Civil Society Organizations, Government Institutions, and Community Leaders) operating in the domain of child protection, to promote collaboration in order to render more effective protection for children in the community.

The project is a complex one, and there could certainly be lots of long-term transformative impact.

In this contest we tried to focus on clear effects that can be accurately associated with the projects, and for this reason other projects that gave direct services to persons in need did better. This is not to say the project was not good, what we mean is that it is much easier for us to say with confidence that others had a positive effect, while here we might need in-depth and long term analysis to see what participants went on to do with the knowledge gained.

Some of these tools to measure the effects of the projects could have helped the project score better:

  • Surveys with workshop participants to understand how they are using the skills and the effects they are having in the communities

  • third-party metrics on child abuse through surveys or through service providers (increased or decreased reports can both be relevant)

  • Pre and post workshop knowledge tests to understand what knowledge did participants gain, and a follow up test several months after

  • Community feedback on the effects of the project through random surveys
